My First KFL
Why did you sign up, and what hooked you?
I signed up last year after hearing stories from others at the club. Absolutely no idea what to expect, but it’s by far one of my favourite events. There’s something truly special about putting on your trail shoes on a Sunday morning and meeting up with your team to get ready for the event.
What stands out about the day?
The Kent Fitness League has incredible support, community, and a shared love of the great outdoors – whatever the weather! Literally. One moment you’re gliding through scenic trails, the next you’re ankle-deep (or waist-deep!) in thick, gloopy mud. Every course is an adventure, testing your grit, your sense of humour, and occasionally your balance. And honestly? I love it.
What makes it special to you?
Mud-splattered legs, soaking wet shoes, and giant grins are all part of the experience. It’s not about PBs here. It’s about camaraderie, cheering each other on, and laughing through the tough patches (and the photos!) There’s something magical about complete strangers from other runners encouraging you as you power through together.
Tell us about the courses and variety
The variety of terrain keeps everyone excited. From woodland paths to open fields, rugged coastline paths and my favourite… boggy dykes. You never quite know what’s coming next. It’s raw, unpredictable and pure fun. KFL isn’t just a running league. It’s a muddy, exhilarating, unforgettable adventure.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining?
If you’re thinking of joining – DO IT. You’ll find friendship, fitness, and plenty of mud waiting for you!
