Join us for the 4th year of this event (formerly Maidstone Harriers 10k) on Sunday, 13th June 2027, from Little Fant Farm, East Farleigh.

A fully-marshalled, scenic run through the countryside and along the river Medway, with a beautiful cafe and picnic area at the start/finish, for a relaxed family day out.

Why Enter the David Thornby 10k?

The Maidstone Harriers 10k was the brainchild of Harriers legend David Thornby, who had the original idea for the course. David passed away in the summer of 2025 and, as of 2026, the race has now been renamed in his honour as the David Thornby 10k.

Enjoy sweeping countryside and riverside views as the course runs from Little Fant Farm down towards the River Medway and back again.

Course Route

The race starts at Little Fant Farm on a farm track with a gentle climb before joining undulating country roads through East Farleigh. The course then drops down towards the River Medway and follows the riverside path, offering a flat and scenic stretch alongside the water. Runners then tackle the steep climb up Unicumes Lane before heading back along country roads and farm tracks, gradually descending towards Little Fant Farm for the finish.

What’s the Day Like?

Last year’s event (2026) was on a beautiful sunny day and 159 runners joined us for the race. There seems to be something about this race that brings out the best weather.

As this is an event put on by runners, the course was well marshalled by friendly and supportive members of the Maidstone Harriers, who were there to cheer all the runners.

All finishers received a beautiful farm-themed medal, featuring the farm’s little red tractor.

What time does the 10k start?

The start time is 9:30am on Sunday 13 June 2027. Please arrive in good time to collect your number and warm up.

Is the David Thornby 10k suitable for beginners?

The course is mainly off-road with a notable hill on the return leg. It is suitable for runners of all abilities, but participants should be comfortable running on mixed terrain.

Is the course flat?

No. While there is a flat section along the River Medway, the route includes undulating country roads and a challenging climb up Unicumes Lane.

Are there toilets and refreshments at the venue?

Yes. Little Fant Farm has toilets on site as well as a café serving hot and cold drinks, cake and ice cream. There is also picnic space for families and supporters.
