Maidstone Harriers supported charity partner, Mid Kent Mind

Maidstone Harriers Supporting Mid Kent Mind

Our charity partner, supporting mental health and wellbeing across Maidstone, Ashford and Swale.

Proud to Support Mid Kent Mind

Maidstone Harriers is proud to have Mid Kent Mind as our club charity partner, raising money and awareness to support its work within our local community.

As a running and triathlon club, we see first-hand how being active can support wellbeing, but also how valuable friendship, connection and being part of a community can be.

That makes our partnership with Mid Kent Mind particularly relevant to who we are as a club and the communities in which our members live, work and run.

How Our Partnership Began

Our relationship with Mid Kent Mind began in February 2026, when Maidstone Harriers was invited to enter teams into the 12-hour Spinathon at Lockmeadow Health Club.

It was there that we met Mid Kent Mind CEO Henu Cummins and first had the opportunity to talk about the charity and its work.

The Harriers committee had already discussed choosing a charity for the club to support, so we arranged a further meeting with Henu to find out more about Mid Kent Mind and the work it carries out within the local community.

Following that meeting, we chose Mid Kent Mind as Maidstone Harriers’ charity partner.

Our partnership isn’t centred around one fundraising event. Throughout the year, we support Mid Kent Mind through fundraising, awareness activities and opportunities where we bring our club and wider community together to help increase the awareness around mental health and our support through Mid Kent Mind.

Let’s Lift the Curfew Community Run

July 2026

In July, we combined another of our Let’s Lift the Curfew community runs with a focus on mental health, running and the work of Mid Kent Mind.

Harriers and members of the wider community met at Lockmeadow Health Club before running alongside the River Medway to Millennium Park and back.

As well as raising awareness around women’s safety while running, the evening highlighted the relationship between physical activity and mental wellbeing.

Henu Cummins joined us and spoke about Mid Kent Mind’s work and the benefits running and physical activity can have for people’s mental health.

People were also able to donate to Mid Kent Mind during the evening, with all donations going directly to the charity.

We held a charity raffle in aid of Mid Kent Mind, with prizes generously donated by club members and some of our club partners.

12-Hour Spinathon

February 2026

Our introduction to Mid Kent Mind came when Harriers took part in the 12-hour Spinathon at Lockmeadow Health Club.

The event led to our first conversation with CEO Henu Cummins and ultimately to Mid Kent Mind becoming our chosen charity partner.

Club Sweepstake

We also donated the proceeds from our club World Cup sweepstake to Mid Kent Mind, providing another simple way for members to support the charity through an activity taking place within the club.

Running, Mental Health and Community

Running means different things to different people. It might be about racing, improving a personal best or taking on a new distance, but it can equally be about getting outside, meeting other people and having some time away from the pressures of everyday life.

At Maidstone Harriers, the social and community side of the club matters alongside training and competition.

Our partnership with Mid Kent Mind gives us an opportunity to use that community to raise awareness of mental health, encourage conversations around wellbeing and support a charity working directly with people across Maidstone and the surrounding area.
