Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be fast enough?

Don't worry about it - we cater for all ages and abilities, from total beginner to the experienced athlete. We have qualified coaches who can help you get started, and access to more coaching and advice through the Kent Athletics Network. We also have a beginners group who run a shorter route on Wednesday nights. And while we do have some fast runners, most of our members are everyday people who just enjoy running for fun and fitness, so there's bound to be someone you can run with.

Do I have to come every week?

Not at all, it's up to you how often you attend, but we do get up to 60 Harriers on a Wednesday night, so if you are struggling for motivation in the depths of winter it's great to know you can run with some company, and in the summer it's a great opportunity to enjoy the lovely countryside around Maidstone.

I won't know anyone there

You soon will do. We're a friendly club, and for your first run we'll pair you up with a runner of similar ability so you don't to worry about getting lost.

What it costs

  • £40.00 a year for full membership
  • £60.00 a year for family membership

Membership of the Harriers means you are automatically registered with England Athletics and will receive a competition licence, which will entitle you to enter most road races at a discount.

No commitment to join

If you turn up on a Wednesday night for the first time you won't be expected to join straightaway, we're more than happy to let you turn up for a couple of weeks before we ask you to formally join the club.

How to join
